Yemeni Ambassador Briefs German Foundation on Houthi Threats
[30/07/2026 12:40]

BERLIN-SABA

Yemen's Ambassador to Germany Louay al-Eryani met with Head of the Middle East and North Africa Department at the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, Thomas Volk, to discuss developments in Yemen and the implications of Houthi terrorist militia violations for regional and international security.

Al-Eryani said the Iran-backed Houthi militia continues to threaten international shipping in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab, stressing that the group's activities represent a persistent challenge to regional and global security rather than a temporary or localized threat.

He emphasized that the most effective way to end those threats is by supporting the Yemeni government in restoring its authority across the country, enabling it to fulfill its responsibilities to the Yemeni people and its obligations to the international community as Yemen's legitimate state authority.

The ambassador also said the militia had responded to every peace initiative and de-escalation effort with further military escalation, underscoring that it views continued conflict as serving external agendas rather than pursuing peace.

For his part, Thomas Volk said the Konrad Adenauer Foundation remains committed to following developments in Yemen and raising awareness in Germany of their implications for regional and international security. He also expressed interest in organizing additional events and activities to deepen understanding of the Yemeni issue and support efforts aimed at assisting the Yemeni people.
