The Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Yemen, chaired by Governor Ahmed Ghaleb, reviewed developments in the monetary and banking sectors and assessed progress on programs aimed at strengthening monetary and financial stability, safeguarding the banking system, and enhancing payment systems and financial services.
The board also examined technical, administrative, and supervisory reports, alongside updates on institutional reforms focused on strengthening governance, regulatory oversight, compliance, and modernizing the banking regulatory framework in line with international best practices to reinforce confidence in the financial sector and expand financial inclusion.
The meeting reaffirmed the importance of continuing the government's economic and financial reform agenda, implemented in coordination with the Central Bank, as a foundation for promoting macroeconomic stability, improving the business environment, and supporting economic recovery and sustainable development.
Governor Ahmed Ghaleb also briefed the board on recent economic and financial developments, progress in implementing structural reforms, and measures taken by the government and the Central Bank to improve institutional performance and maintain economic stability.
He further outlined the outcome of recent consultations between the Yemeni delegation and the International Monetary Fund mission in Amman, which concluded with a staff-level agreement on an IMF Staff-Monitored Program.
