Spain Reaffirms Support for Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council
[23/07/2026 05:44]

MADRID – SABA
The Spanish government has reaffirmed its support for Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) and the internationally recognized government in their efforts to safeguard the country’s stability against attempts to interfere in its internal affairs, in violation of UN Security Council Resolution 2216.

Spain also voiced deep concern over the worsening instability in Yemen, while condemning what it described as unjustified Iranian attacks against Gulf states and Jordan.

The government said the attacks targeted critical infrastructure as well as commercial vessels flying the flags of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states in the Strait of Hormuz.

Madrid further expressed solidarity with its regional partners in the face of what it called a new violation of their sovereignty and territorial integrity, while extending its condolences to the families of those killed in the attacks.

The Spanish government also warned of the growing regional instability, including threats to Saudi vessels transiting the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

Spain reaffirmed its commitment to diplomacy, dialogue, and respect for international law.

Madrid emphasized that force and violence can never provide a sustainable foundation for peace or regional security.
