ADEN – SABA
Lieutenant General Mahmoud al-Subaihi, the member of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, has affirmed that the steadfast path toward lasting peace and dignity begins with placing the nation's supreme interests above all else, rejecting hate speech and sectarianism, rallying behind the enduring flag of the Republic of Yemen, and building the future of coming generations on the foundations of freedom, justice, and equality.
In an exclusive statement to (Saba), Lt. Gen. al-Subaihi said: “Yemen is passing through an exceptionally critical historical phase, during which citizens living in areas under the control of the Houthi terrorist militias remain the primary victims of the coup that has devastated public services and deepened the suffering of millions of families.”
He added: “The grim reality in areas controlled by the Houthi terrorist militias poses a genuine threat to our national identity through repressive practices, including the suppression of free speech, arbitrary detention of journalists and activists, and the continued arbitrary detention of United Nations personnel, employees of non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations, and diplomatic missions for more than two years.”
Al-Subaihi noted that the systematic dismantling of the education and media sectors by these militias is being used to impose a sectarian, dynastic ideology alien to Yemen’s society, traditions, and moral and humanitarian values, while subordinating national decision-making to regional agendas that serve only projects of chaos.
He called on free citizens in Houthi-controlled areas to confront these practices by refusing to allow their regions to become arenas for conflict, insisting on the release of detainees, ending policies of discrimination and guardianship, and uniting behind the national choice that rejects tyranny and subordination.
He stressed that the path to lasting peace begins with prioritizing national interests, noting to importance of rallying behind the national flag.
