Interior Minister, UK Deputy Ambassador Review Security Cooperation

Interior Minister Major General Ibrahim Haidan held talks on Tuesday with UK Deputy Ambassador to Yemen and Political Counsellor Michelle Atkinson, along with the British Embassy's Security Attaché to Yemen, Eritrea and Djibouti, Lieutenant Colonel Martin Omsho, on strengthening bilateral security cooperation.

Discussions centered on expanding collaboration in the training and professional development of Interior Ministry personnel, enhancing institutional capacity, supporting security agencies in the fight against terrorism and organized crime, and improving Coast Guard capabilities to help maintain security and stability.

During the meeting, Haidan outlined the latest security developments and highlighted the ministry's ongoing efforts to bolster public security, modernize the performance of its security institutions, enhance operational preparedness, and intensify measures against terrorism and organized crime.

He stressed the importance of broadening cooperation with the United Kingdom to further strengthen the ministry's capabilities and improve the efficiency of its security services.

Atkinson reaffirmed her government's commitment to maintaining support for Yemen's Interior Ministry and deepening security coordination and cooperation in ways that contribute to reinforcing security and stability across the country.
