UN-Funded Water Desalination Plant Opens at Shabwah General Hospital

SHABWAH – SABA
Secretary-General of the Shabwah Local Council Abdrabu Hishlah on Wednesday inaugurated a new water desalination plant at Shabwah General Hospital, a UN-funded project aimed at improving access to safe water and strengthening healthcare services at the province's main public hospital.

Funded by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) at a cost of $90,000, the project includes a desalination unit capable of producing 4,000 liters of potable water per hour and a 100-cubic-meter underground storage tank, providing the hospital with a reliable and sustainable water supply.

During the inauguration, Project Public Works Project Coordinator Engineer Mohsen Humaid said the project forms part of broader efforts to upgrade health infrastructure and improve the quality of care by ensuring uninterrupted access to safe water for patients and medical staff.
