CAIRO — SABA
The Presidency of the Shura Council held a meeting Monday chaired by Council Chairman Dr. Ahmed Obaid bin Daghr to discuss a number of issues related to the Council’s duties and developments on the national and regional levels.
The meeting reviewed the latest political, economic, and security developments, as well as efforts made to address current challenges.
It emphasized the importance of unifying national ranks and strengthening institutional work in a way that contributes to supporting the state and achieving the aspirations of the Yemeni people.
Dr. Bin Daghr affirmed that the current phase requires the concerted efforts of all parties and rallying around the political leadership to confront economic, political, and security challenges.
He stressed that the Shura Council will continue to fulfill its national and constitutional role in supporting state institutions and backing all steps aimed at restoring the state, consolidating security and stability, and achieving the aspirations of the Yemeni people for security, development, and peace.
The Chairman of the Shura Council noted that peace has remained the choice of legitimacy, represented by the Presidential Leadership Council and its Chairman Dr. Rashad Mohammed al-Alimi, since the beginning of the crisis.
However, he stated that the continued intransigence of the Houthi militia, its rejection of regional and international initiatives, and its ongoing escalation indicate a lack of willingness to end the suffering of Yemenis.
He called on the international community to assume its responsibilities and exert greater pressure on the militia to engage in a serious peace process based on the agreed references, ensuring an end to the coup and the restoration of state institutions.
The Presidency praised the efforts made by the government in managing the current phase and strengthening the unity of state institutions. It also commended its efforts in implementing economic and administrative reforms, improving citizens’ living conditions, and alleviating humanitarian burdens despite the exceptional challenges facing the country.
It stressed the importance of continuing economic and administrative reforms and improving the level of basic services.
The Presidency also affirmed the importance of enhancing security and stability in the liberated governorates and supporting the armed forces and security services to enable them to carry out their national duties in maintaining security, combating terrorism, strengthening the rule of law, and holding violators accountable.
