MARIB-SABA
Marib Deputy Governor Dr. Abdrabuh Miftah discussed on Sunday with representatives of a Polish humanitarian organization ongoing relief interventions in the governorate and prospects for expanding support to address growing humanitarian needs amid continued displacement and economic challenges.
During the meeting, Miftah reviewed the humanitarian situation in Marib, highlighting the significant burdens placed on the local authority by successive waves of displacement and the resulting pressure on public services and infrastructure.
He pointed to the combined impact of continued displacement, declining humanitarian funding, economic hardship and climate-related challenges on living conditions, stressing the need for increased international support to help meet rising humanitarian demands.
The deputy governor expressed the local authority’s hope for a broader humanitarian role by the Polish organization, particularly in supporting displaced persons and host communities through projects in education, healthcare, water, food security and shelter.
Miftah also reaffirmed the local authority’s commitment to providing all necessary facilitation and support to ensure the successful implementation of humanitarian programs that contribute to alleviating the humanitarian crisis.
The discussions also reviewed the organization’s ongoing interventions in the governorate, including a project to establish a meteorological station aimed at strengthening climate monitoring and supporting local response efforts.
For his part, the organization's representative, Omar Abdullah, affirmed its commitment to strengthening humanitarian cooperation with the local authority and assessing priority needs across the governorate.
He said the organization seeks to identify areas where it can contribute through targeted development and humanitarian projects, noting that its interventions focus on sustainable initiatives that improve humanitarian conditions and support recovery efforts.
