Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Dr. Shaya Zindani received Russian Ambassador to Yemen Evgeny Kudrov on Saturday to discuss bilateral cooperation and opportunities to expand ties between the two countries, particularly in the energy sector, as well as developments at the national, regional, and international levels.
During the meeting, Ambassador Kudrov briefed Dr. Zindani on preparations for the official reopening of the Russian Embassy in the temporary capital, Aden, in the coming period. The two sides underscored the significance of the move in advancing bilateral relations and strengthening diplomatic engagement.
Dr. Zindani praised the longstanding ties between Yemen and Russia and their shared commitment to deepening cooperation and coordination across various fields, particularly in the economic and investment sectors. He also commended Moscow’s support for the Yemeni people and the country's constitutional legitimacy, both bilaterally and through its role as a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.
The prime minister reiterated the government's welcome for the resumption of Russian diplomatic operations from Aden and affirmed its readiness to provide all necessary support to facilitate the embassy’s work.
For his part, Ambassador Kudrov reaffirmed Russia’s support for efforts aimed at achieving peace and stability in Yemen and expressed his country's commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation with Yemen across a range of sectors.
