Member of the Presidential Leadership Council and Governor of Marib, Major General Sultan al-Arada, performed Eid al-Adha prayers on Wednesday morning alongside large crowds of worshippers in Marib city.
The prayers were attended by Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council Abdullah Abu al-Ghaith, Raymah Governor Major General Mohammed al-Houri, a number of members of the House of Representatives and Shura Council, judicial officials, deputy ministers and governors, military and security commanders, directors of government offices and districts, social figures, and large numbers of citizens who gathered from the early morning hours to observe the Eid rituals.
Following the prayers, al-Arada and the worshippers listened to the Eid sermon, which highlighted the virtues of Eid al-Adha and the significance of Hajj as one of the greatest Islamic rituals embodying the values of unity, equality, and devotion to Almighty God.
The sermon also addressed the profound religious, national, and social meanings reflected in the Hajj pilgrimage rites.
The sermon stressed that Hajj represents a comprehensive spiritual school that instills the values of patience and sacrifice, promotes equality among people, and reflects the unity of the Islamic nation through the gathering of Muslims of different races, cultures, and languages in one place united by faith, brotherhood, and common purpose.
It further emphasized the importance of applying these values and lessons in daily life by strengthening national unity, reinforcing solidarity among citizens, rejecting division and hatred, and working collectively to build the nation and support security and stability.
The sermon also noted that maintaining security is a shared responsibility requiring cooperation between the state and citizens alike, stressing the need to preserve public tranquility, combat negative phenomena and harmful behaviors, and uphold national and moral responsibility.
