Lahj Governor Discusses Expanding Humanitarian Interventions with Action For Humanity, Modern Social Foundation

Lahj Governor Murad al-Halimi discussed on Wednesday with the Country Director of the international humanitarian organization Action For Humanity Mohammed Bahashwan prospects for strengthening joint cooperation and developing humanitarian and service interventions in the governorate.

The meeting, attended by the Director of the Planning and International Cooperation Office, Dr. Hisham al-Saqqaf, the Director of the Office of Social Affairs and Labor, Saeb Abdulaziz and the Governor’s Advisor for NGO Affairs Omar al-Samati reviewed the programs and projects implemented by the organization in the sectors of education, health, water, agriculture, infrastructure and food security. Discussions covered the nature of the interventions, their implementation locations, and the extent to which they address the needs of local communities across all districts of Lahj Governorate.

The meeting also discussed the organization’s future plans to expand its activities and strengthen its presence in service and development sectors in line with the priorities and needs of Lahj Governorate.

Governor al-Halimi emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships with international organizations working in the humanitarian field, praising the role played by Action For Humanity in supporting health services and emergency relief programs.

He stressed the need to direct interventions toward the sectors most in need to ensure the sustainability of basic services and their delivery to the poorest and most vulnerable groups.

For his part, the organization’s Country Director affirmed the continuation of coordination with the local authority leadership in Lahj Governorate and efforts to intensify humanitarian interventions in accordance with existing needs and national priorities. He renewed the organization’s commitment to supporting sectors directly linked to citizens’ lives and contributing to the development of comprehensive care services and improving humanitarian response levels.

In a related context, the Governor of Lahj also discussed with the Acting Executive Director of the Modern Social Foundation Aida Shuaib the level of interventions and programs implemented by the foundation in the fields of psychosocial support and mental health, as well as the extent to which they target schools and health units in the governorate.

The meeting also addressed the foundation’s future plans and programs scheduled for implementation during the upcoming phase, along with coordination mechanisms with relevant authorities, in a way that contributes to developing psychological and community services.

Governor al-Halimi praised the efforts of the Modern Social Foundation and the humanitarian programs and activities it provides to serve local communities.

He affirmed the readiness of the local authority leadership in Lahj Governorate to provide the necessary facilitation to ensure the success of the foundation’s interventions and maximize their humanitarian impact in the governorate.
