ADEN-SABA
The Ministry of Human Rights strongly condemned the heinous crime involving the kidnapping and killing of Acting Executive Director of the Social Fund for Development, Wissam Qaed, in the interim capital Aden, describing the incident as a shocking act that has stirred both humanitarian and national conscience.
In a statement to Saba, the ministry said the crime constitutes a grave violation of the right to life, as guaranteed by all international laws and conventions.
It further described the act as a direct assault on development and humanitarian work, and a targeting of national professionals who have dedicated their lives to serving society and strengthening community resilience amid the country’s exceptional circumstances.
The ministry noted that targeting national cadres working in development and humanitarian fields represents a dangerous escalation that undermines efforts toward stability and development.
It called on the relevant authorities to promptly launch a transparent investigation into the crime, pursue and apprehend the perpetrators, and bring them to justice to receive appropriate punishment.
The ministry also urged the establishment of protective mechanisms to prevent the recurrence of such crimes.
The statement further appealed to the international community and UN organizations to condemn the incident, support efforts to investigate it, enhance accountability measures, and ensure the protection of humanitarian and development workers, stressing the importance of ending impunity for such crimes.
