ADEN-SABA
The Yemeni Coast Guard has announced that it has identified the location of the oil tanker (M/T EUREK), which was subjected to an armed hijacking on Saturday off the coast of Shabwa governorate by unidentified assailants.
In a statement received by Saba, the Coast Guard said that, according to preliminary information, the tanker was boarded and seized by unknown elements, who then redirected it toward the Gulf of Aden in the direction of Somali waters.
The statement added that, immediately upon receiving the report, the Coast Guard initiated operational procedures, dispatching two patrol boats from Aden, in addition to a smaller patrol vessel from Shabwa, as part of search and tracking efforts to determine the tanker’s location, despite limited resources and the exceptional circumstances facing the country.
It noted that coordination is ongoing with international partners and relevant entities operating in the Gulf of Aden, affirming continued efforts to track the vessel and take necessary measures in an attempt to recover it and ensure the safety of its crew.
