Security forces thwart terrorist plot, dismantle assassination cell in Aden
[26/04/2026 12:53]

ADEN - SABA
Security forces have announced the arrest of a terrorist cell that had been planning to carry out a series of assassinations and target social stability in the temporary capital, Aden.

This comes as part of ongoing efforts strengthening security and stability—and foiling sabotage schemes.

An official security source told Saba that the operation followed careful surveillance and monitoring, leading to the arrest of several involved individuals.

Materials and evidence linked to the cell’s activities and its supporters were also seized.

The source noted that preliminary investigations revealed plans to target social and religious figures in an attempt to spread chaos and undermine the security and stability of the temporary capital.

The source confirmed that the relevant authorities are continuing investigations to uncover all circumstances surrounding the case and to track down the remaining members associated with the cell, in preparation for referring them to the competent authorities so they can receive appropriate legal punishment.

He added that initial indicators suggest the cell may be linked to several recent criminal incidents, including the assassination of businessman Abdulrahman al-Shaer, noting that investigations are ongoing to determine responsibilities accurately.

The source reaffirmed the vigilance and readiness of the security forces and their ability to deal firmly with anyone attempting to destabilize security, stability, and public peace.

Citizens were urged to cooperate with authorities and report any suspicious activities.

He also stressed the state’s full commitment to protecting its citizens, continuing efforts to establish security and stability, and deterring any attempts to spread chaos or undermine the rule of law.
