The Republic of Yemen has welcomed the announcement by US President Donald Trump regarding the reaching of an agreement for a ceasefire in the sisterly Republic of Lebanon.

In a statement obtained by Saba, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed appreciation for all efforts that led to this agreement.

The ministry affirmed the Republic of Yemen’s full support for the efforts of President Joseph Aoun and his government in all matters that preserve Lebanon’s unity, territorial integrity, protection of its citizens and the restoration of security and stability in the brotherly country.

The ministry also expressed its hope that this announcement would constitute a genuine step toward enabling the Lebanese state to exercise full sovereignty over all its territory, strengthen its national institutions, ensure that arms remain exclusively in the hands of the state and preserve its sole authority over decisions of war and peace.
