Defense Minister Lt. Gen. Dr. Taher Al-Aqili held an expanded meeting with the command of the Second Military Region during a field visit aimed at boosting combat readiness and reviewing the condition of military units.
Discussions focused on the Region’s current situation, including operational challenges, unit requirements, and measures to strengthen logistical and combat capabilities to ensure forces are fully prepared to carry out their national duties.
Al-Aqili received a detailed briefing from the Regions leadership on performance, discipline, and key obstacles facing troops. He reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to addressing those challenges and providing the support needed to strengthen the armed forces.
The defense minister praised the sacrifices and professionalism of officers and soldiers of the Second Military Region, highlighting their resilience and dedication in serving the nation. He said their efforts remain a source of pride for the country.
The visit — his first to the Region since taking office — underscores the ministry’s focus on field engagement and direct oversight of military readiness.
The meeting was attended by Second Military Region Commander Maj. Gen. Mohammed Al-Yamni and senior defense officials, who reviewed plans to improve performance and enhance coordination across military units.
