ADEN - SABA
Minister of Education, Dr. Adel al-Abbadi met Thursday with UNICEF Representative in Yemen Peter Hawkins, discussing with him ways to strengthen the strategic partnership and develop mechanisms of cooperation to improve education sector in the country.
Minister al-Abbadi emphasized the ministry’s commitment to maintaining the stability of the educational process.
He also praised UNICEF’s qualitative interventions, most notably its support for the confidential printing press during the past year, which directly contributed to the success of the examination process and helped overcome logistical challenges.
The minister also reviewed the key features of the ministry’s ambitious sector plan, which is based on five strategic priorities. These include ensuring the continuity of education and expanding access to it, improving the quality of educational outcomes, developing infrastructure and the school environment, and strengthening and building institutional capacities.
For his part, Hawkins referred to the results of the cluster survey conducted by the organization, which included more than 200 indicators on the conditions of children and women in Yemen.
The survey also provided detailed indicators for each governorate separately, in addition to a study on multidimensional poverty in the sectors of education, health, and water.
