President al-Alimi praises Finland's support for Yemen

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad l-Alimi, Chairman of the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) met today, Saturday, with the President of the Republic of Finland Alexander Stubb, on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.

President al-Alimi praised the supportive stance of Finland in support of the internationally recognized Yemeni government, Yemen's unity and its territorial integrity.

The President highlighted the Finnish model of the state, voicing desire to benefit from Finland's expertise in public sector reform, decentralization and education as a means to rebuild national identity.

the President also praised Finland for hosting numerous meetings and consultations between Yemeni parties, as well as its established traditional role in international mediation and conflict resolution.

The conversations touched on recent transformations and achievements in Yemen, including unifying political and military decision-making, forming a new government and making significant improvements in basic services.

The Chairman of the PLC touched on the vision of the state leadership for the Southern Dialogue as a framework to stabilize the national partnership and the sincere Saudi support in this regard.

He stated that he is looking forward to an active Finnish role within the European Union to push for a tougher stance towards the Houthi militias and to expand sanctions on financing and smuggling networks
He also reiterated that the security of the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandeb Strait is not only a Yemeni issue, but a global issue, which requires the international community to support the government's efforts to impose its control over its entire territory.
