PLC Memer Othman Mujali Meets German Ambassador to Yemen
[12/02/2026 05:01]

RIYADH – SABA
Member of the Presidential Leadership Council Sheikh Othman Mujali met on Thursday with the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Yemen Thomas Schneider in the presence of Deputy Ambassador Sophia Herzberg.

The meeting addressed bilateral relations between the two countries and mechanisms for joint cooperation in combating terrorist organizations (ISIS and Al-Qaeda), as well as confronting externally funded rebel elements represented by the Houthi terrorist militias and affiliated cells aligned with them.

The discussion also covered the efforts exerted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to support the Leadership Council and strengthen the position of the government headed by Dr. Shaya Zindani in delivering services, normalizing conditions, achieving security and stability, assisting citizens, implementing a matrix of urgent commitments and addressing the numerous challenges and significant responsibilities entrusted to it. Diplomatic coordination.

Mujali explained that the new government includes fresh blood and highly qualified competencies, with women appointed to three important ministerial portfolios. He affirmed the significant and unlimited support provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia across various fields, describing it as Yemen’s strong and active partner—both government and people.

This support is clearly demonstrated through Saudi Arabia’s political, economic and developmental backing of Yemeni legitimacy, alongside its role in international forums as leader of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy and a genuine guarantor of security, stability and peace in Yemen. Sustainable partnerships.

Mujali also praised the role played by Germany and the European Union in supporting development and humanitarian aid in Yemen.

He pointed to growing public resentment domestically due to the levies imposed by the Houthi terrorist militias, the looting of wealth and humanitarian aid, the distortion of facts, the militarization of public life, the diversion of aid to war efforts, and the deprivation of citizens from receiving assistance.

He added that the international community had misjudged and misunderstood the Houthi terrorist militias due to their portrayal of themselves as a minority or oppressed group.

However, years of war have exposed the falsity of these claims and revealed their true image as racist terrorist militias that have practiced and continue to practice terrorism locally and regionally, targeting international interests and vessels in the Red Sea with support, armament, and training from the Iranian regime. Complex conflicts, like any long campaign, require endurance and clarity of direction.

Mujali affirmed that the Houthi terrorist militias are among the most dangerous Iranian-backed terrorist groups in the Arab region.

He noted that the Yemeni state’s option remains peace; however, if the Houthis fail to comply with legitimate international resolutions, war remains a legitimate and viable option to compel them to return to the path of peace, implement UN resolutions, and adhere to the constitution and the law.

For his part, German Ambassador Thomas Schneider expressed his and the German people’s appreciation for the Yemeni people and reaffirmed his country’s support for Yemen’s unity, security, stability, and territorial integrity.

He emphasized Germany’s commitment to continued cooperation between the two countries in combating terrorism and supporting the Presidential Leadership Council and the government of competencies led by Dr. Shaya Zindani.
