The National Commission to Investigate Alleged Human Rights Violations met on Wednesday with local, judicial and security leaders in Marib governorate to assess the conditions of detainees and strengthen guarantees of justice and the rule of law.
Commission member Dr. Mohammed Talyan and his accompanying team held discussions with Marib Deputy Governor for Defense and Security Affairs, Major General Nasser Ruqeib, along with senior judicial officials and directors of local security branches.
The meeting addressed a range of human rights-related issues, emphasizing the need to enhance the performance of judicial enforcement bodies and to activate procedures for referring individuals found to have committed violations to the competent judicial authorities.
The Commission commended the cooperation of the local leadership and its engagement with observations raised during previous visits, expressing appreciation for its understanding of the Commission’s mandate in reaching victims, improving detainee conditions and ensuring enforcement of the law.
