Non-resident Ambassador of Yemen to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Dr. Adel Bahumaid discussed Tuesday with the Deputy Director General of the Middle East and Africa Department at the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Anjouin Anh Duc, the latest developments in the political and security situation in Yemen.
Ambassador Bahumaid reviewed latest developments in Yemen, especially the recent events in the eastern governorates, and the decisions taken by the Presidential Leadership Council, headed by His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed al-Alimi, the Chairman of the Council, within the framework of its constitutional responsibilities to preserve the security and safety of citizens, protect the legal status of the state, and preserve its legitimate institutions.
He expressed Yemen's thanks and appreciation to the Republic of Vietnam, which supports constitutional legitimacy in Yemen.
Appreciating the recent position issued by the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which affirmed Vietnam's support for Yemen's security and stability, and the necessity of reaching a comprehensive and sustainable political solution.
For his part, the Vietnamese official stressed his country's firm position in support of security, stability and peace efforts in Yemen and the region.
He strressed the importance of political solutions and dialogue in addressing regional crises.
The two sides agreed on the importance of activating the memorandum of understanding signed between the Republic of Yemen and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in July of last year, and building on it to enhance bilateral cooperation in areas of common interest, and in a way that serves the interests of the two friendly countries and peoples.
