Member of the Presidential Leadership Council Major General Sultan al-Aradah met monday with the United Kingdom’s Ambassador to Yemen Abda Sharif.
He discussed with her latest developments on the national scene.
The meeting addressed bilateral relations between the Republic of Yemen and the United Kingdom, and aspects of joint cooperation in various fields in a manner that serves mutual interests.
The discussions also touched on the efforts of the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia aimed at de-escalating tensions and maintaining security and stability, in a way that ensures the protection of the legal status and sovereignty of the state, and the continued functioning of its sovereign and service institutions in accordance with constitutional and legal frameworks.
Al-Aradah praised the role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in containing escalation, particularly in the eastern governorates, and preventing the situation from sliding into complex paths that could harm social peace.
He affirmed that preserving stability in the liberated areas represents a top national priority at this sensitive stage.
He also highlighted the importance of the political and economic support provided by Saudi Arabia to Yemen during this phase, noting that the latest support included development assistance of approximately USD 600 million, of which USD 90 million was allocated to pay salaries of state employees in both the civil and military sectors.
He explained that this support contributes to easing economic and living pressures and enhances the government’s ability to meet its obligations toward citizens.
The member of the Presidential Leadership Council stressed the need for the international community to play its role in supporting the Presidential Leadership Council and the government, and in backing efforts aimed at de-escalation and preserving the political track, in a manner that contributes to protecting state institutions, enhancing security and stability, and alleviating the humanitarian suffering experienced by the Yemeni people.
He commended the supportive positions of the United Kingdom toward Yemen at various levels.
For her part, the British Ambassador reaffirmed the United Kingdom’s commitment to supporting the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government, and its keenness on Yemen’s unity, security, and stability. She also praised regional and international efforts aimed at de-escalation, preserving the political process, and reducing the severity of the humanitarian crisis.
