Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council issued Decree No. (17) of 2026, appointing Dr. Shaya Zindani as Prime Minister and tasking him with forming the government.
The text of the decision is as follows:
The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council,
* Having reviewed the Constitution of the Republic of Yemen;
* Having reviewed the Gulf Cooperation Council Initiative and its Implementation Mechanism, signed on 23/11/2011;
* Having reviewed the Decision on the Declaration of the Transfer of Power No. (9) of 2022, and the formation of the Presidential Leadership Council issued on 7 April 2022;
* And based on the Presidential Leadership Council Decision No. (4) regarding the appointment of a new Prime Minister, and in consideration of the supreme interests of the country;
Has decided as follows:
Article (1):
Dr. Shaya Zindani is hereby appointed Prime Minister and is tasked with forming the government.
Article (2):
Members of the current government shall continue to conduct caretaker duties, excluding appointment and dismissal, until the formation of the new government.
Article (3):
This decree shall take effect from the date of its issuance and shall be published in the Official Gazette.
