The Chairman of the Shura Council Dr. Ahmed Obaid bin Daghr, met today with the European Union Ambassador to Yemen Patrick Simonnet.
He discussed with him latest developments on the Yemeni scene and international efforts aimed at supporting peace and stability in Yemen.
In the presence of the Vice Chairman of the Shura Council, Engineer Wahi Aman, the two sides reviewed recent developments in the liberated governorates, particularly Hadramout and Al-Mahrah, as well as the efforts exerted by the Presidential Leadership Council, headed by His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed al-Alimi and the government to normalize security and service conditions, enhance security and stability, and restore normal life to various areas after years of conflict.
The meeting also addressed ways to strengthen cooperation between Yemen and the European Union in humanitarian, developmental and political fields, in a manner that contributes to supporting the efforts of the legitimate government and local communities to achieve peace and stability and to rebuild the state and its institutions.
Dr. bin Daghr emphasized the vital role played by the Arab Coalition, led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in supporting Yemen, praising its ongoing efforts to protect civilians, preserve the unity of the Yemeni state, and contribute to peace endeavors aimed at ending the war and restoring state institutions.
The Chairman of the Shura Council also commended the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for hosting the Southern–Southern Dialogue Conference, which serves as an important platform for enhancing dialogue among various southern components and for seeking fair and comprehensive solutions to the Southern issue within the framework of peace and national unity.
Dr. bin Daghr pointed out the importance of continued international support to strengthen efforts aimed at reaching fair and comprehensive solutions to the Yemeni issue, in accordance with the agreed-upon references led by the Gulf Initiative and the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference.
For his part, Ambassador Patrick Simonnet affirmed the European Union’s support for the Presidential Leadership Council and the EU’s commitment to Yemen’s unity and territorial integrity, noting the continuation of joint cooperation to enhance peace and development efforts.
