President al-Alimi calls on international community to establish new phase of promising partnership in Yemen

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) received today, Sunday, the Ambassador of the United Kingdom (UK) to the Republic of Yemen Abda Sharif.

Yemeni-British bilateral relations, cooperation and partnership was key focus of the talks.

The President greatly valued the UK's key role in supporting Yemen's unity, its constitutional legitimacy and peace efforts.

He also deeply appreciated the UK's significant contribution to the humanitarian and relief actions in our country.

The President underlined the importance of the partnership between the two countries for sustaining the government's efforts aimed at restoring the state institutions, fighting terrorism and protecting international maritime shipping lanes.

The conversations covered the recent developments on the Yemeni national arena and the presidential decisions and measures aimed to protect the civilians and state legal status as well as to normalize situations.

The President touched on the announcement of the creation of the Supreme Military Committee, as a comprehensive professional framework responsible for unifying all military and security forces and factions and reorganizing them under the umbrella of the Ministries of Defense and Interior.

The Chairman of the PLC highlighted the priorities for the upcoming phase, mainly the return of the government and state institutions to operate from within the country, improving basic services, strengthening the independence of the judiciary and the rule of law, creating a safe environment for investment and reconstruction.
