Yemen, along with 22 Arab, Islamic, and African countries and organizations, has strongly condemned the recent unlawful visit of an Israeli official to Somaliland, a region of Somalia, on January 6, 2026.
The joint statement, issued by foreign ministers, considers the visit a clear violation of Somalia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, undermining international norms and the UN Charter.
They reaffirmed support for Somalia's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, emphasizing that encouraging separatist agendas is unacceptable and risks escalating tensions in a fragile region.
The statement stresses the importance of respecting international law, non-interference in sovereign states' internal affairs, and adherence to diplomatic norms for regional and global stability.
It praises Somalia's commitment to peaceful international engagement and compliance with international law, and supports Somalia's diplomatic and legal measures to safeguard its sovereignty and stability.
The signatories urge Israel to respect Somalia's sovereignty, national unity, and territorial integrity, and fulfill its international obligations, calling for immediate withdrawal of Israel's recognition.
