Al-Mahrami, US Ambassador discuss joint cooperation, partnership

The Member of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) Abdul-Rahman al-Mahrami met today, Thursday, with the U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Yemen Steven Fagin.

Yemeni-American bilateral relations, cooperation and partnership as well as the American leading role in supporting Yemen's security and stability was key focus of the conversations.

They also addressed the recent events and the measures have been taken to secure the temporary capital Aden.
The underway preparation to convene South-South dialogue in Riaydh were also touched on.

Al-Mahrami highlighted the importance of mounting international cooperation to cut off the funding sources of the Houthi militias and terrorist groups, upgrading the efficiency of the Coast Guard and security services to tighten control over entry points and prevent the smuggling of weapons and prohibited materials used by the militias to undermine stability in the region.

The American Ambassador praised the efforts made to combat terrorist organizations and curb smuggling operations.
Mr. Fagin underscored the importance of maintaining joint coordination to boost security and stability as well as protect international navigation to achieve peace and development.
