PRAGUE – SABA
Yemen’s Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Mohammed Al-Hadhrami, met today with Director of the Middle East and North Africa Department at the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Petr Hladík, to discuss bilateral relations and the latest developments in Yemen.
Ambassador Al-Hadhrami provided a detailed briefing on the armed rebellion led by Southern Transitional Council (STC) President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi in the governorates of Hadramaut and Al-Mahrah during December 2025.
He stated that the insurrection—carried out with backing from the United Arab Emirates—posed a direct threat to Yemen’s stability and undermined all ongoing de-escalation and peace efforts.
In response to this armed rebellion, the Presidential Leadership Council, with the support of the Saudi-led Coalition, took decisive measures to preserve constitutional legitimacy and national unity.
These included the official dismissal of Aidarous Al-Zubaidi from the Leadership Council and his referral to the Attorney General on charges of high treason.
Ambassador Al-Hadhrami also revealed that Al-Zubaidi had been involved in smuggling arms from the interim capital Aden to undisclosed destinations, further aggravating the situation on the ground.
He underscored President Rashad Al-Alimi’s initiative to convene a comprehensive South-South Dialogue Conference in Riyadh aimed at finding fair and inclusive solutions to the Southern Issue.
The proposal has been welcomed by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and has received wide regional and international support.
For his part, Director Hladík reaffirmed the Czech Republic’s support for Yemen’s legitimate government and praised the historical ties between the two countries.
He highlighted Czech contributions to Yemen’s healthcare sector through the Red Cross and reaffirmed ongoing support for Czech humanitarian organizations operating in the country. Hladík expressed hope that Yemen would soon see a return to peace, security, and lasting stability.
