His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) received today, Monday, the Acting Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany Sofia Bugner.
They conferred over the recent developments on the Yemen national arena, mainly the ongoing efforts to de-escalate and protect civilians in the eastern governorates.
The President highly praised the supportive positions of the Federal Republic of Germany and the European Union in support of the Yemeni people and its political leadership, Yemen's unity and territorial integrity as well as the internationally recognized Yemeni government's aimed at eliminating the coup of the Iranian-backed terrorist Houthi militias, restore security and stability and promote development and peace.
The President praised the pivotal role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, greatly valued its signficant efforts to de-escalate tensions, protect civilians, provide aid to those affected in Hadhramaut governorate, and prevent the situation from slipping into internal clashes.
He confirmed that the coordinated action with the leadership of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy has achieved all its objectives, in line with international humanitarian law.
His Excellency also touched upon the sovereign decisions to declare a state of emergency and end the UAE presence, which aimed to protect the pacification efforts, uphold the legal position of the state and prevent the militarization of political life, while stressing strict adherence to human rights and deterrence of any violations.
The Chairman of the PLC reiterated the firm commitment to a fair and comprehensive resolution of the southern issue in accordance with the free will of the people and under natural circumstances.
In this context, he pointed out to his call for an inclusive south-south dialogue that excludes no one and has no preconditions, under the generous sponsorship of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The President stated that the PLC and government are keenly seeking to strengthen cooperation with all regional and international actors, explaining that correcting the course of partnership within the framework of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy does not mean severing ties with the brothers in the United Arab Emirates.
"We're looking forward to constant European and international support for Yemen and its government as a reliable partner in protecting international maritime navigation, fighting terrorism and securing water passageways", he said.
