President al-Alimi exalts prisoner-release agreement

RIYADH - SABA
His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) received today, Thursday, the negotiating government delegation tasked with the detainees' file, headed by Shoura Council member Hadi Heig.

The President briefed on the outcomes of the latest round of negotiations with the Houthi terrorist militias, which held the Omani capital, Muscat and sponsored by the United Nations.

The talks resulted in signing an agreement to release 2,900 detainees and abductees, including the prominent politician Mohamed Qahtan, who is included in the UN Security Council resolution.

The President . congratulated the Yemeni people on this humanitarian agreement, expressing his hope that this development would serve as a beacon of hope for thousands of Yemeni families who have long suffered from the pains of loss and waiting their beloved ones.

He reiterated the commitment of the PLC and the government to making the humanitarian issue, the protection of civilians and the reunification of families a constant priority in all efforts and initiatives aimed at restoring security, stability and peace in the country.

The Chairman of the PLC praised the significant efforts of the negotiating team and the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Sultanate of Oman, the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross, which culminated in reaching this agreement.

He restated that the PLC and the government are committed to spare no effort in securing the release of all detainees, abductees and those forcibly disappeared in the prisons of the Houthi terrorist militias and reuniting them with their grieving families.
