MARIB – SABA
Presidential Leadership Council member Major General Sultan al-Aradah held a virtual meeting Wednesday with the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Yemen Thomas Schneider, in the presence of Deputy Ambassador Sophia Hertzberg.
The meeting reviewed developments on the national scene, the latest events, and ways to strengthen joint efforts to overcome challenges.
Al-Aradah stressed the importance of Germany’s political role in supporting United Nations efforts, praising Germany’s supportive stance toward Yemen’s security and stability.
He also noted the political leadership’s keenness to coordinate positions with regional and international partners, with the aim of supporting Yemen during the difficult circumstances it is experiencing and enhancing the capacities of state institutions.
He affirmed that there is consensus on addressing all outstanding issues according to the fundamental solution references recognized locally, regionally, and internationally: the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference, the Gulf Initiative and its implementation mechanism, UN Security Council resolutions led by Resolution 2216—as well as adherence to the provisions of the power-transfer declaration.
The Presidential Leadership Council member emphasized that the current stage requires expanding coordination and cooperation and unifying international efforts in a way that helps overcome the existing security and economic challenges.
For his part, the German Ambassador reaffirmed his country’s steadfast position in supporting the Yemeni people and contributing to necessary developmental and humanitarian assistance to meet their aspirations for a future of freedom, security and prosperity.
