ADEN - SABA
His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Muhammad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, departed today, Friday, from the interim capital, Aden, heading to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to hold consultations with regional and international actors regarding the latest developments in the local situation, particularly the recent events in the eastern governorates.
In a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the Chairman of the Leadership Council affirmed the Council's and the government's commitment to the approach of national partnership and collective responsibility in completing the tasks of the transitional phase, in accordance with its agreed-upon terms of reference, foremost among them the Declaration on the Transfer of Power and the Riyadh Agreement.
He also emphasized the state's sole responsibility for protecting its national institutions, safeguarding the interests of its citizens, preserving the unity of sovereign decision-making, and rejecting any unilateral actions that would challenge the exclusive powers of the government and local authorities, harm security and stability, deepen human suffering, or undermine opportunities for economic recovery and the growing trust with the international community.
The President of the Presidential Leadership Council stated that the battle to restore state institutions, end the Houthi terrorist militia's coup, and implement the economic reform program will remain at the forefront of national priorities.
He warned that any preoccupation with side conflicts only serves the Iranian project and its destructive tools, and exacerbates the suffering of the Yemeni people.
His Excellency praised the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which led to the recent ceasefire agreement in Hadramawt Governorate.
He emphasized the importance of full adherence to the agreement's terms, building upon these positive efforts, and prioritizing the interests of Hadramawt and its people, considering it a fundamental pillar of stability in Yemen and the region.
He also reiterated his full support for the local authority leadership and tribal figures and dignitaries in leading the mediation efforts, expediting the return to normalcy, and empowering the people of Hadramawt to manage their local affairs, in fulfillment of the Leadership Council's commitments and its plan to normalize the situation in the governorate.
In this context, His Excellency the President directed the local authority in Hadramawt Governorate and relevant government bodies to form a committee to investigate human rights violations, violations of international humanitarian law, and the damage inflicted on citizens and public and private property, particularly in the Wadi and Desert districts.
He also instructed them to take all necessary measures to redress the damage and ensure that those responsible do not escape punishment.
Furthermore, His Excellency called upon all national factions to step aside their differences, demonstrate the highest degree of responsibility, unite in the face of challenges, support the government, and prioritize the interests of the citizens.
