AL-KHOKHA – SABA
The Governor of Hodeidah Province Dr. al-Hassan Taher inaugurated Friday a water project in al-Khokha District that will supply the city, the Basmat Amal and Pure Hands camps, and the Al-Wa‘ara area.
The project was launched after completing rehabilitation, maintenance, and operation works carried out by the Roya Amal Organization.
During the inauguration, which was attended by the Director-General of al-Khokha District Salem Alayan, Governor Taher praised the efforts of the Roya Amal Organization in implementing the project, appreciating its role in meeting citizens’ needs and strengthening vital services in the targeted areas.
Hamid Khazzan, the Director-General of Rural Water explained that the project will benefit more than 50,000 people, improving their access to clean and safe water.
He pointed out that residents had long suffered from a severe shortage of water services.
Project engineer Mohammed al-Selwi stated that the rehabilitation work included repairing and reactivating old water distribution points, restoring concrete reservoirs, extending the pipeline network, rehabilitating the pumping room, installing a solar power system, distributing hygiene kits and conducting an awareness campaign to prevent epidemics.
