Health Minister seeks greater support from GAVIi, WB to medical services

The Minister of Public Health and Population Dr. Qassem Buhaybeh discussed with the Director of the Global Vaccine Alliance 'GAVI' in Yemen Ann Cronin technical cooperation and strategic partnership to support immunization programs and develop the capacities of the health system.

They discussed GAVI's interventions in our country, including the provision of essential and routine vaccines, supplementary vaccines for epidemic response and support for medical incinerators for the safe disposal of medical waste.

Dr. Buhaybeh sought for greater partnership with GAVI, moving from short-term responses to long-term strategic planning by strengthening the cold chain, enhancing the efficiency of healthcare workers and improving tracking mechanisms to ensure that vaccines reach all governorates.

The Director of GAVI stated that they are committed to constantly support Yemen, providing vaccines and cover the funding and supply gaps amid current challenges in health and humanitarian fields.

The Health Minister also discussed with the World Bank (WB) team the health interventions funded by the WB and carried out by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Dr. Buhaybeh highly appreciated the WB's significant support for primary health care and emergency services.
