Member of the Presidential Leadership Council Dr. Abdullah al-Alimi met Tuesday with Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Yemen Thomas Schneider, discussing with him the latest developments in Yemen.
The two parties also discussed efforts of the Presidential Leadership Council and the government in implementing economic and security reforms and alleviating the humanitarian crisis caused by the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militias.
Dr. al-Alimi praised the distinguished bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and Germany’s continuous support for Yemen in the humanitarian and development fields.
He highlighted the historical depth of this support and its tangible impact on improving citizens’ livelihoods through numerous development projects, including the recent Fishing Port Project in Aden.
He expressed hope for the continuation of this valuable support, given its significant role in promoting stability and development.
Dr. al-Alimi also stressed the importance of paying close attention to the developments in the Red Sea, noting that the Houthi attacks have proven to the entire world that the militia represents an international threat extending beyond Yemen’s borders, affecting the interests of Germany and its partners.
He emphasized, necessitates strengthening security coordination and supporting the capabilities of the Yemeni Coast Guard forces.
He further warned that neglecting the situation in Yemen poses a serious threat to regional and international security, emphasizing the importance of maintaining German engagement with Yemen and supporting the peace and stability process.
The Council member reaffirmed the Council’s support for the government’s economic and financial reform efforts, which contribute to improving institutional performance and meeting the state’s essential obligations, foremost among them the regular payment of public employees’ salaries.
For his part, Ambassador Schneider reaffirmed Germany’s continued support for Yemen and its commitment to sustaining partnership in humanitarian and development areas, as well as supporting the efforts of the Presidential Leadership Council and the government to achieve security, stability and peace.
