Minister of Justice Judge Badr al-Aridah discussed today, Monday, in the temporary capital of Aden, with the Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Marion Shai, joint cooperation in refugee protection and strengthening the legal role in this regard.
They also addressed mechanisms for coordination between the Ministry and the High Commissioner that contribute to enhancing legal protection for refugees and internally displaced persons, as well as raising awareness of legal rights and obligations, in accordance with the international agreements and treaties ratified by the Republic of Yemen.
Judge al-Aridha highlighted the importance of increasing cooperation and joint coordination to ensure the treatment of refugees in accordance with the principles of justice and legal equality, underlining the challenges Yemen faces due to the influx of refugees through illegal means amid the difficult conditions the country is experiencing.
The UNHCR's official confirmed the Commission's willingness to support the Yemeni government's efforts in strengthening legal protection and improving the situation of refugees.
