Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Shaya Zindani discussed Monday with the Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdel Aty bilateral relations between the two countries.
In the meeting, which was held on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly,Minister Zindani praised the strength of the historical fraternal ties that unite the two brotherly countries and peoples.
He expressed the Yemeni government's aspiration to prepare for holding the strategic dialogue and convening the joint supreme committee between the two countries, and to activate the work of the joint committees in a way that enhances bilateral cooperation in various fields, including encouraging joint investments and economic projects.
During the meeting, the overall political situation in the region was reviewed, most notably the continued Houthi attacks on navigation in the Red Sea, the threat they pose to global trade security, and the direct impact on the economic stability of the two countries and the region in general.
The two parties agreed on the importance of continuing consultation and coordination with sister countries, most notably the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to support the Yemeni government and assist its efforts to confront security challenges and economic recovery.
Emphasis was also placed on developing bilateral cooperation and joint consultation on issues of common interest, in a way that serves mutual interests and reflects the depth of historical ties and strong ties between the Yemeni and Egyptian peoples.
