[07/09/2025 01:39]
RIYADH-SABA
The Member of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) Sultan al-Arada discussed today, Sunday, with the American Ambassador to the Republic of Yemen bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries.

The talks covered a range of topical issues including the political and military developments, UN-led efforts aimed to bring peace the intransigence of the Houthi militias that continues to reject all regional and international initiatives, rather go on military escalation in different fronts.

Al-Arada has confirmed that the Yemeni political leadership and government are adhering to the sustainable peace that is based on the three key references for peace because they are the only way to bring the Yemeni people's ordeal to its end.

He stated that the military and security challenges created by the continuing attacks by the Iranian regime backed terrorist Houthi militias do not only target Yemen alone, but also the security of the region and the international shipping lanes and global trade in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.

Accordingly, a more firm stance by the international community is imperative to pressure the militias to stop their terrorist attacks.

The PLC's Member highlighted the economic challenges due to the cessation of oil exports that prevents the state from its main resources that has badly affected the state budget and basic services.

Al-Arada called on the international community, first of all the United States, to double support to the Yemeni government to strengthen its official institutions, finance the economic recovery programs to enhance the economic stability and enable the government to deliver on its obligations.

The American Ambassador confirmed his administration's support for the PLC and the Yemeni government.

Mr. Fagin restated that the United States is interested in supporting the efforts aimed to make peace, further boost bilateral cooperation and to provide necessary assistance to alleviate the Yemeni people suffering.
