The Council of the League of Arab States, at the ministerial level, affirmed its full support for Yemen's unity, sovereignty, security, stability, territorial integrity, and rejection of interference in its internal affairs.
This came in the decisions issued by the regular session of the League Council (164), which was held on Thursday at the headquarters of the General Secretariat in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, headed by the Minister of State of the United Arab Emirates, Khalifa bin Shaheen Al Marar with the participation of the foreign ministers and heads of delegations of member states, and the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit.
The Council also affirmed its continued support for the Yemeni government, led by the Presidential Leadership Council, headed by Dr. Rashad al-Alimi and strengthening its role in implementing policies that would achieve security and stability, alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people, restore the legitimate state, and support the government's position adhering to the option of peace on the basis of the three agreed-upon references, praising the positive interaction of the Yemeni government with international proposals and initiatives aimed at ending the war and establishing the foundations of sustainable peace in Yemen.
The resolution, taken in the session, included an emphasis on continuing to support the measures taken by the Yemeni government aimed at alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people, mitigating the disastrous economic and social impacts and consequences of the war, and achieving security, stability, development, reconstruction and economic recovery.
The resolution warned of the danger of the deterioration of the humanitarian and health situation in Yemen, reiterating the call on member states and the international community to intensify efforts to confront the challenges of the severe shortage of food, medicine and other basic needs in Yemen, and to take the necessary steps to confront the risks of famine, meet food needs and the repercussions resulting from the international food crisis.
It stressed the continued support for the United Nations road map on Yemen for the month of December, stressing the need for the terrorist Houthi militia to stop its condemned practices and calling on it to submit to the voice of reason and the supreme interest of Yemen.
The resolution also appreciated the continued positive response of the Yemeni government to the United Nations road map.
