ADEN - SABA
Member of the Presidential Leadership Council Major General Aidaroos al-Zubaidi held a video conference with the U.S. Chargé d'Affaires to Yemen, Jonathan Pecha in Sunday.
The two parties discussed latest developments in Yemen, particularly the humanitarian situation in the temporary capital Aden and Lahij Governorate.
This follows the heavy rains and flash floods that have swept through the area in recent days, causing extensive damage to property and infrastructure, as well as significant humanitarian suffering for affected families.
Major General al-Zubaidi highlighted the efforts made by local authorities in the two governorates to assist the affected families, stressing the importance of urgent intervention by international organizations to provide emergency support in the areas of shelter, food, and medicine.
The meeting also addressed a series of economic reforms achieved by the Sovereign Revenue Committee and the government, as well as the important successes made towards economic recovery.
In this regard, the U.S. Chargé d'Affaires praised the significant efforts made by al-Zubaidi, who is the head of the Supreme Committee for Sovereign Revenues.
He also praised efforts of the Prime Minister and the Governor of the Central Bank in achieving real reforms in several revenue-generating institutions.
Both parties discussed ways to enhance joint efforts to continue economic reforms, ensuring sustainable recovery that positively impacts citizens' lives, as well as the efforts made by security and military agencies, and the tangible successes they have achieved in thwarting the smuggling of weapons, drones and drug shipments intended for the terrorist Houthi militias.
