Aden – SABA
In a joint meeting held in the interim capital, Aden, Yemen’s Ministry of Transport and Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor discussed the final draft of the country’s accession to the International Labour Organization’s Maritime Labour Convention (MLC).
The meeting, attended by Minister of Transport Dr. Abdelsalam Humayd, Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Dr. Mohammed al-Zaouri, and technical specialists from both ministries, focused on the importance of joining the MLC to uphold the rights of Yemeni seafarers and workers aboard ships flying the Yemeni flag. It also emphasized the protection of foreign crews on vessels docking at Yemeni ports.
Officials noted that Yemen’s accession would enhance oversight by marine inspectors from the General Authority for Maritime Affairs and support legal compliance in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor.
