ADEN-SABA
The Minister of Water and Environment Eng. Tawfiq al-Sharjabi discussed today, Tuesday, with the UNICEF Representative in Yemen Peter Hawkins joint cooperation in the water sector and the projects included in the agreement signed between the two sides.
The conversations, which held via videoconference, aimed to explore possible solutions to address the water crisis in Taiz governorate, specifically to re-operate water fields and their regular pumping back into the city.
They also underlined the importance of reviewing the vulnerability assessment in coastal areas, extending from the western coast and Aden to Mukalla and al-Mahrah in order to identify the basic needs of the most affected coastal cities and villages, and developing strategies to mitigate the impacts of environmental and climate risks on local communities.
