Deputy Minister of Planning discusses cooperation with World Bank Official

Deputy Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Nizar Basuhaib discussed Sunday with Regional Director for Egypt, Djibouti and Yemen at the World Bank, Stefan Gimbert cooperation between government and the WB.

The two parties discussed the portfolio of development projects currently being implemented and planned for the upcoming phase.

The meeting included the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation for International Cooperation, Omar Abdulaziz, the Undersecretary for Engineering Projects, Minister Al-Sharmani, the World Bank Country Director in Yemen, Dunya Abu Ghaida, and a delegation from the bank.

They addressed the challenges and opportunities facing project implementation, as well as upcoming projects in the fields of electricity, nutrition, and social protection.

The Deputy Minister of Planning presented the government's agenda and priorities for achieving economic growth and creating job opportunities across various vital sectors, and improving the level of public services provided to citizens.

He emphasized the necessity of strengthening joint working mechanisms between the two parties to sustain support and aid in the coming period to help address the reduction in funding, particularly from the U.S.

For his part, the Regional Director for Egypt, Djibouti, and Yemen at the World Bank praised the coordination efforts between the Yemeni government and the World Bank in enhancing communication and monitoring the implementation of current and upcoming projects.

He stressed the importance of collaborative efforts to overcome difficulties and achieve a tangible developmental impact felt by citizens.
