TAIZ - SABA
The Security Committee in Taiz held a meeting Monday chaired by the Governor and Committee President Nabil Shamsan to discuss military and security developments and efforts to enhance security and stability in the governorate.
The meeting included the Commander of Taiz Pivot Major General Khaled Fadel, the Commander of the Tor al-Bahah Pivot and the Fourth Mountain Infantry Brigade and Brigadier General Abu Bakr Ali al-Jabouli.
The committee listened to several reports on the security situation in the city and various districts of the governorate, the level of coordination between security agencies and military units in providing protection for vital public facilities and private property, securing roads, pursuing wanted terrorist elements, and deterring threats from the Iranian-backed Houthi militias and terrorist organizations allied with them.
In a statement, the Security Committee praised the successes achieved by security agencies in recent times in thwarting numerous terrorist and criminal plots aimed at disturbing public peace and terrorizing citizens.
The committee noted in its statement the results of the joint security and military campaign in Al-Shamayatain District, which led to the arrest of several individuals belonging to terrorist groups allied with the Iranian-backed Houthi militia.
The committee explained that the arrested individuals had committed numerous crimes, including murder and vandalism against public and private property and resisted law enforcement authorities in the temporary capital, Aden, and in Taiz and Lahij governorates, including their close connection to the murder of World Food Program employee Moyed Hamidi in the city of Al-Turbah in July 2023.
The statement also reported the seizure of explosive materials, medium and light weapons and booby-trapped vehicles intended for use in sabotage operations targeting security, military, and civilian leaders, as well as government facilities in Taiz and other liberated governorates.
The statement affirmed the continued legal actions by the relevant authorities to refer these criminal elements to justice and to pursue and track down those who have fled to bring them to justice and ensure they receive appropriate penalties.
