The Minister of Water and Environment Eng. Tawfeeq al-Sharjabi signed Sunday here a cooperation agreement with the international organization "Muslim Hands" to implement a project to rehabilitate water sources in the Juhain and al-Jaadi areas in Louder District, Abyan Governorate.

The project aims to improve access to safe and sustainable drinking water for nearly 10,000 beneficiaries in the two areas by reactivating the al-Jaadi well, which has been out of operation for over 10 years, and increasing the production capacity of the second well in Juhain area to approximately 226 cubic meters per day.

The project in Juhain area includes comprehensive works such as supplying and installing a submersible pump with its motor and accessories, establishing an integrated solar energy system to operate the pumping unit, and rehabilitating the well room. Additionally, a horizontal pumping unit will be installed to feed the second phase of the project, along with a chlorine injection system to ensure water safety, and training the community committee on operating and managing the project to ensure its sustainability.

The signing ceremony was followed by Minister Al-Sharabi's affirmation that the project represents a qualitative addition to the efforts made by the ministry and its partners to address challenges and improve water services in rural and needy areas.
