Training course launched for securing maritime ports in

A specialized training course for port security personnel and agencies involved in securing maritime ports began Monday in the temporary here with the participation of 20 trainees from various units and institutions related to maritime security.

The course, conducted by the General Department of International Cooperation at the Ministry of Interior, is part of the Red Sea Security Project affiliated with the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, as well as the International Maritime Organization, aimed at enhancing Yemen's capabilities to protect its coasts and ports.

Lieutenant General Mohammed Museid al-Amir, Assistant Minister of Interior for Security and Police, stated that this course is part of the ministry's efforts to strengthen maritime security and improve the efficiency of units responsible for protecting ports.

He praised the technical and training support provided by Interpol, emphasizing that building the capacities of national personnel is crucial in facing current challenges.

Lieutenant General al-Amir urged participants to benefit from the course content and to share what they have learned with their colleagues, contributing to enhancing performance and elevating the standards of security work in maritime ports, in line with the highest international standards and practices.

For his part, Dr. Abdulkhaleq al-Selwi, Director General of the General Department of International Cooperation and International Criminal Police at the Ministry of Interior, explained that organizing this course responds to the field needs identified through visits and field surveys.

He added that the Red Sea Security Project, in partnership with Interpol, provides a valuable opportunity to transfer international expertise to Yemeni personnel for their benefit.

Meanwhile, Saad al-Jabouri, a criminal investigations officer at Interpol, praised the collaboration with the Ministry of Interior, which falls under their international efforts to enhance maritime security and secure vital ports in the Red Sea region.

He noted that this training course represents an important step towards building the capacities of Yemeni security personnel and improving coordination among relevant agencies, which will help address the increasing challenges related to smuggling, organized crime, and maritime security threats.
