Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council Dr. Rashad al-Alimi received Wednesday the British Ambassador to Yemen Abda Sharif.
The meeting addressed the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and the latest developments in national and regional situations, including the ongoing threats posed by the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist militias to international peace and security.
The President listened to Ambassador Abda Sharif regarding indicators of a coordinated British plan with relevant authorities to mobilize international support aimed at alleviating the humanitarian suffering of the Yemeni people, improving livelihoods, supporting economic recovery opportunities and enhancing public services for citizens.
He praised the bilateral relations between the two friendly nations and the British humanitarian and developmental interventions across various fields, emphasizing the need to double this support in the face of the catastrophic repercussions of Houthi terrorist attacks on oil facilities and maritime shipping vessels.
He reiterated the Council's and the government's commitment to developing a constructive strategic partnership with the international community across all fronts, ensuring the cessation of terrorist threats to maritime corridors and promoting regional stability and international peace and security.
