Al-Zubaidi: Unless Houthi militias eliminated, they'll remain threat to the region's security

The Member of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) Maj. General Aidarous al-Zubaidi stressed that securing the international maritime waterways in the Red Sea, Bab el-Mandeb and the Gulf of Aden, and bolstering the region's security and stability requires eliminating the Iranian regime-allied terrorist Houthi militias.

In a virtual conversation today, Tuesday, with the U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Yemen Steven Fagin, he made it clear that the militias will continue to be a source of threat to the security and stability of the region unless they are not eliminated and a new reality created in the county.

Al-Zubaidi stressed that it is very important for national, regional and international efforts to be integrated together to get rid of the Persian scheme in the region, noting that Iran has been striving to take control over the international shipping lanes in the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb and it had long planned to do so.

The two sides discussed the developments of the political and military situations in our country amid the constant escalation by the Houthi militias in the international maritime passageways and the American air strikes aiming to destroy the militias' military capacities and foil their terrorist plots.

The two sides emphasized that it is very important for these quality air strikes to achieve their objectives represented in destroying the military facilities of the Iranian regime backed militias, the weapons depots, launching pads of missiles and drones and the command and controlling rooms.

The talks also covered the practical measures to enforce the decision of designating the Houthi militias a Foreign Terrorist Organization, the mechanisms of monitoring the application of the international sanctions imposed on the militias and their economic arms per the designation decision.

Al-Zubaidi and Fagin underscored the importance of coordinating the efforts with the regional and international partners in order to eliminate the threat pose by Houthi militias and protect the international navigation, boost the security and stability of the region.

Al-Zubaidi expressed his appreciation to the American administration for its support for our country in different circumstances. He emphasized that the partnership with the U.S. and friendly countries constitutes fundamental backer for the security and stability of the region.
