Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council Dr. Rashad al-Alimi arrived Thursday in Munich, Germany, to participate in the International Security Conference, which will commence its activities tomorrow, Friday.
President al-Alimi is accompanied by the Advisor to the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council for Defense and Security Affairs Lieutenant General Mahmoud al-Subaihi, the Advisor to the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council and Member of Parliament Engineer Omar al-Amoudi, the Director of the Presidency Office Dr. Yahya al-Shuaibi and the Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Dr. Shaya Zindani.
This year's Munich Conference discussions will focus on the security of the Red Sea, maritime corridors, and the threats posed by Houthi terrorist attacks on maritime shipping, as well as international peace and security.
President al-Alimi will speak at the accompanying events of the conference, providing briefings on the humanitarian and economic repercussions, and the Council's and government's vision for achieving comprehensive and lasting peace in Yemen and the region, ensuring the enhancement of the role of member states in the United Nations and their capacities to deter terrorist threats to navigation freedom and address their catastrophic implications on various levels.
Additionally, the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council will present updates on local conditions, including the economic and humanitarian crisis exacerbated by Houthi terrorist attacks on oil facilities and shipping vessels, and the importance of urgent international economic support to curb inflation, strengthen the national currency, and dry up the sources of the war economy managed by the Houthi militias to fund their hostile operations.
President al-Alimi will meet on the sidelines of the conference with several leaders and international figures participating in the prestigious global gathering to share views and coordinate positions and visions regarding common challenges.
The Munich Conference is the largest event on global security policy, focusing on security and humanitarian crises, mechanisms for building peace and stability, and enhancing regional and international alliances and partnerships.
The new session of the Munich Conference is held with a wide presence of heads of states and governments, foreign and defense ministers, interior ministers, and representatives from various regional and international organizations and gatherings, including the United Nations, the European Union, NATO, and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.
