ADEN - SABA
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Public Health and Population Abdulraqeeb al-Haidari held Monday here a meeting with a delegation from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
They discussed mechanisms to support the health sector with the necessary medical equipment and to enhance its sustainability according to established standards.
The meeting, which also included Arafat al-Zandani, the Director General of Medical Equipment at the ministry, addressed the ministry's role in facilitating administrative and logistical procedures to ensure the swift delivery of equipment to the targeted health facilities.
They emphasized the importance of joint coordination between the ministry and UNFPA to prioritize the needs of the health sector.
Dr. al-Haidari stressed the necessity for the provided medical equipment to comply with approved health standards, prioritizing local markets to ensure ongoing maintenance and technical support services.
He pointed out that if equipment is sourced from abroad, it should come from brands with official agencies in Yemen to ensure the sustainability of the devices through the availability of spare parts and regular maintenance services.
For his part, al-Zandani highlighted the importance of strengthening effective partnerships between the ministry and international organizations to ensure the provision of high-quality medical equipment that contributes to improving health services across various provinces.
The UNFPA delegation reaffirmed the fund's commitment to supporting the health sector in Yemen and working to meet the actual needs of health facilities according to the highest standards, while ensuring the availability of maintenance and technical support services for the provided equipment.
